The weekend of May 4th and 5th, 2024, saw the 27th edition of the Fiera di u Casgiu, with the theme “Pastoralism.” We were delighted to share these values with the many visitors of this edition through various activities and interactions over these two days.

“Pastoralism has been one of the pillars of our island’s food autonomy for centuries. It is also a way of life, a mindset, and a rich vocabulary. Pastoralism does not exploit people, natural resources, or animals: it enhances them. Pastoralism is also a philosophy of life that encourages continuous interaction with all living things: it shapes landscapes, the character of people, highlights heritage, and brings culture to life.” (April 2023, Paulu-Andria Fluixa; Pecuraghju)

Today, shepherds and shepherdesses fight daily to uphold these values, and A Fiera di u Casgiu is here to remind us that these people, these skills, and these traditions exist and must endure!
